International Travel & Visas

The Tocumen International Airport (IATA code: PTY) serves Panama City. It is the main international point of entry of Panama. It serves direct flights from different cities from the Americas and Europe.

From North America:

Many airline companies offer non-stop service from cities in Mexico, the US and Canada, including American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, Copa Airlines and Mexicana. There are direct flights from Mexico DF, Guadalajara, Cancún, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles.

From the Caribbean:

There are direct flights from Kingston (Jamaica), Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago.

From Central America:

There are regular bus services from San José, Costa Rica. The bus fare from there is around 26.00 USD one way and takes approximately 16 hours. Buses arrive the Albrook Bus Terminal in Panama City. For timetables and reservations, visit www.ticabus.com or www.panalinecr.com. Please note that Central America (-6 UTC) is one hour behind Panama (-5 UTC).

There are also flights from all cities of Central America into Panama. Check TACA and Copa Airlines.

From South America:

Almost all Southern American capitals are connected with non-stop services to Panama City. Many other Colombian, Venezuelan and Brazilian cities are also served by Copa Airlines.

From Europe:

Try booking flights from Amsterdam (Schipol) and Madrid (Barajas), which prices start at around 900 euros.

Vaccines

Very Important, if you are comming from:

  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Venezuela

You need to be vaccinated against yellow fever 10 days prior to entering Panama.
